Sunday's Somthing Silly

Hi all,

I thought we might learn about Kangaroo's today! Did you know the following....

*A baby kangaroo at the time of its birth measures 2 centimetres.

*Kangaroos need very little water to survive and are capable of going for months without drinking at all. When they do need water, they dig 'wells' for themselves; frequently going as deep as three or four feet. These 'kangaroo pits' are a common source of water for other animals living in the kangaroo's environment.

*A kangaroo being chased by a dog may jump into a dam. If the dog gives chase, the kangaroo may turn towards the dog, then use its paws to push the dogs head underwater in order to drown it. who knew kangaroo's could be so...vicious/clever??

* Emus and kangaroos cannot walk backwards, and are on the Australian coat of arms for that reason.

there's so much to learn about our land!!

Enjoy today & see you tomorrow :)

There's debate about the coat of arms one, apparently, but no one has ever verified it one way or another. Some people believe they were chosen simply because they're the only two native animals that can stand up and which aren't tiny. (Imagine the coat of arms with a platypus and a wombat!) I'd like to believe the walking backwards one, though... :)
